January 2009

Today, all my relatives from malaysia had to go back to malaysia. I was saddened to hear that. I went to send them off in the taxi stand. However before that, we all went to Bugis. As it was the chinese new year, most of the shops were closed and so we had very little things to do. However, we decided to watch a movie called Love Matters. It was a comedy and the director was Jack Neo. The movie was really funny.I laughed so hard that i forgot that they were going back to malaysia soon.

After that, we went to eat Ajisen. It was a japanese noodle shop. Despite the vast number of people in Bugis, Ajisen was filled with people. I ordered a noodle called volcano. The name itself sounded like a extremely spicy noodle and it was. As there was no seats outside, we had to sit in the shop which was very hot and stuffy. When i was eating a spicy noodle which was both hot and spicy and an evironment which was also hot, i was sweating like crazy. However i still enjoyed the meal.

Then, we went to bugis Street which was just opposite bugis. As this was like a teenage street, there were loud music and the number people were more than the number of people in bugis. We only went there for a while as after a while everyone felt giddy under the hot sun and with loud music playing in the environment. Then they had to go. I felt sad however everyone had to work.

However i thought on the bright side. I would be able to see them again next year, the year of the tiger( i think its the tiger). Lets hope next year would be a more enjoyable year! Remember to come back again guys!

Sunday...Chinese New Year Eve..My House..6.p.m

Happy Chinese New Year! New year songs could be heard and the atmosphere was great. One by one, all my relatives came to our house, for the most important dinner of the year. The reuninon dinner. I was extremely excited as the food we were going to eat will garuntee be sumptious and can only be eaten once a year. We lay out the table and put the dishes on it. Just looking at the food made my mouth drool. Everyone sat down on their sits and stared at the dishes. My stomach was grumbling crazily. Then we started eating. Despite the urge to continue eating, i took out my handphone and snapped a picture of everyone eating.

Despite the good food infront of them, some of my relatives turned their heads and faced the camera. However, some just could not resist it and continued eating. After taking this picture, i immediately ran to my seat and started eating. The food tasted as good as how it looked like. We spend 30 minutes eating and made sure that there was not a single dot of food left on the plate. I was full. I had never been so full for the past 13 years.

When asked whether the food was good .... ....

looks like the food was indeed delicious!!
We then watched television and chatted as a family. After chatting for a while, we decided to play UNO. We played and played until we concentrated on the game so much that only when i had looked at the clock, it was already 11.59. I then gathered everyone to the living room and we all counted down to the lunar new year. This year was indeed a very memorable year!

A moment spent alone doing something i enjoy...

Of course the best place to do the thing we enjoy to do is none another than our own home. Whenever my mother goes out to buy groceries and my father is outside for work, i was alone at home. Since i had no siblings, i had to go around and find my own things to do. I used to love the playstation one but as soon as playstation 2 and 3 came out with its high graphic imaged games, i was still stuck with a low graphic laggy playstation 1 which might hang anytime. So i got bored of it and started finding other things to do.

Then i started going to the gameboy. First it was the gameboy colour followed by the gameboy advance then finally the gameboy xp. I used to play with a game called Pokemon but as soon as i grew older, i realised that it was totally lame and so i stopped playing with it. Then one day, I got bored so i took out to play and i brought it to tuition. When i came back, i realised that i had lost it. I was devastated. Okay now i had to find a new hobby.

So one day i went to suntec city. As i was walking down the aisle , i saw a bunch of boys playing with yoyos. I was thinking that they were just lame old yoyos that just went up and down a string however at second glance, i realised that this were not just normal yoyos but were professional yoyos that would land on strings a few times and do mind-boggling tricks. Soon after looking at them play, I bought one and i thought that like the other toys i use to have i would quit some day. However, the more i played with it at home, the more i got addicted to it. As soon as time passed by, i learned a couple of new tricks and now i am totally addicted to it and i do not think that i would quit it at this time. I wish i can be a yoyo professional someday but ofcourse i would not neglect my studies.

However whenever i am playing at home alone, when my mother comes back, she would normally scold me and i ask me to do my work. I would ofcourse agree however whenever my mother goes out or goes to the shower ( she normally takes a long time) i would take out my yoyo and start practicing again. Here are some of my yoyos !! :

A difficulty i faced

I had alot of difficulties in the past like coping in school however this was one of the difficulties that i had given all out to overcome
Wednesday ...3.30p.m...National Sailing Centre ( East Coast Park, Singapore)
We were at the national sailing centre. There, a storm was brewing. Dark rain clouds clumped together in the air and the air was stale. Thinking that the wind would stay at this condition for the moment, our china coach, Xiao Dong, asked us to launch the boats. Reluctantly we did as we were told. Then for an instant there was no wind at all and the sea was calm. We launched the boats. We sheeted in our sails and sat in the boat as our boats drifted away from the shore... ...

As we were relaxing in the boat, the wind and the current changed suddenly. The wind started howling and the waves were strong. As most of us were relaxing in the boat, we were taken aback by the wind and most of us capsized. Looks like this was not going to be as easy as it looks. We uprighted our boats without a problem as we were full of energy and we had the fighting spirit of not being taken down by the wind. '' I will not give up'' I thought to myself. I tightened all my ropes so that i could catch as little wind as possible for me to control the boat easier. If i had not done so i would have capsized repeatedly.

We sailed for a while andthe storm clouds dispersed after five minutes and however the wind did not ''die''. It was still as strong as before. As our coach told us that this wind was hard to come by, we will carried on to sail. We first sailed to Bedok Jetty, where on the way i capsized a few times. When i had sailed there, the rest of the sailing crew were already there, ready to sail back to the sailing centre again. When i was about to reach to them, they had already started to sail back. When i saw them sailing, i realise that i was extremely tired and fatigue engulfed me. I tried ways and means to sheet in my sail but to no avail. I was just too tired. As i was about to give up, happy memories spreaded across my mind. I suddenly ''woke up'' and as I did so, I sheeted in my sail immediately and followed the rest of the sailing team.

After a while, the storm clouds was back. The wind howled like before but only louder. My sailed flapped crazily and I was not going to give up again. However looking at all my strong sail mates capsizing repeatedly under the merciless wind, I was not as confident as before. At this point, my coach came towards me on his power boat and encouraged me. He then said it was enough training today and we should get back to shore. It boosted my confidence once again. I was determined to get back to shore. Now, i saw lightning striking pass the horizon and the wind ''died'' again. It started to drizzle and then there was a heaving downpour. Knowing what would happen, i got ready for the wind. However the wind came back much stronger than before. It was around 25 knots. I shivered at the thought however once i though of my coach's encouraging words, with all my courage i sailed back to shore safely.

From that day onwards, whenever i go out to sail and have difficulty in something, I would remember my coach's encouraging words and then i would be able to sail without much of a problem...

Today, was one unusual day. I woke up today, feeling unusually sad. Today, my uncle was going back to Germany after staying here for 2 weeks. Today was THE DAY. How i wished he could stay for the chinese new year. However that was not to be. I decided that i was going to spend the rest of the day with my uncle then! We first went to Arab street. My Uncle then went to buy some chinese traditional fans for him to sell in his shop in Germany.

After our ''tour'' in Arab street, we decided to go to the East Coast Park. We walked along the beach for a while and build some sandcastles. Then in a blink of an eye, it was lunch time. We then made our way to East Coast Lagoon to have lunch. The food there was sumptious. My uncle wanted to eat Asian food as he had no chance in doing so when he was in Germany. After that we made our way home so to pack his things for the trip back to Germany later at night.

When we reached home and i entered his room, i was taken aback by the number of things he bought. He bought things from cups to card holders. He then tried to squeeze all those things into the luggage bag he had brought along with him but to no avail. He just bought too many things for him to sell in his shop. So, my mother lend him our luggage bag just for him to put his items in.

After packing, we decided that we would go to the airport to eat dinner before seeing him off. We all went to eat at a fast food restaurant in terminal one called popeye's.

The food there was just delicious! After we had finished eating, it was time forhim to go. We took a few pictures before sending him off once and for all. We wish tosee you again uncle, BON VOYAGE!
